Key Priorities for Responsible Leadership in Our Town

Updated: Aug 27

When I decided to run for council, I knew it was important to be clear about what I stand for. Every candidate says they want the best for our community — and I believe that too — but I also think you deserve to know my specific priorities and the approach I’ll bring to the council table.

Here are the key areas I’ll focus on:

1. Fiscal Responsibility

Like many of you, I know what it’s like to balance a household or business budget. Tax dollars should be treated with the same care. I believe in reducing wasteful or unnecessary spending and ensuring that every dollar is used efficiently. We may not be able to cut taxes overnight, but we can make smarter choices that ease the burden on homeowners over time.

2. Fair & Efficient Permitting

Growth is good for our community, but the way we handle permits for new businesses, home builds, and even renovations can make that growth harder than it needs to be. Right now, the process can feel inconsistent and time-consuming, especially in historic areas where more approvals are required. We need clearer, fairer, and more predictable systems that support homeowners and encourage new investment — without losing our character.

3. Transparency & Accountability

I hear from many residents that they don’t always feel included in the decision-making process. Too often, people feel like choices are being made without proper communication or clarity. I believe council should be open, honest, and accountable to every resident and property owner. That means no backroom deals, no hidden agendas — just straightforward communication and decisions that reflect the best interests of the whole community.

These are the guiding principles of my campaign. They’re not flashy promises — they’re practical, achievable priorities that can make a real difference.

I’m committed to listening, learning, and working with residents so we can move the Crowsnest Pass forward together. If these priorities matter to you, I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me at the community market or by email. Your voice is an important part of shaping our future.
